Private by design

What you say stays with you.

Civiq keeps mock-interview audio, transcripts, and study progress on your iPhone. No account required. No cloud AI receives your answer.

Civiq explaining which study information stays on the device

No account to create

Start practicing without handing over your identity.

Your voice stays local

On-device speech and coaching keep your answer on your iPhone.

You decide what leaves

Only requested lookups and reports leave your device.

Practice freely. No one else needs to listen.

Real rehearsal means speaking, pausing, and sometimes getting it wrong. Civiq keeps that work on your iPhone because preparing for your interview should never require giving away your voice.

Your words stay local

Civiq can help without hearing from the cloud.

Representative lookup uses an address for that request. A pronunciation report leaves your device only when you choose Send Report.

Representative lookup

A lookup, not a location history.

Your address is used when you ask Civiq to resolve the correct congressional district. Civiq keeps the representative result, not the street address.

Saved on your device Your representative
Not retained by Civiq The street address

At a glance

Privacy without surprises

  • Civiq does not require an account.
  • Your study history and spoken interview content stay on your device.
  • On compatible iPhones, Civiq uses Apple's Foundation Models framework on device. Official USCIS answers remain the source of truth.
  • Civiq does not sell personal information, show third-party ads, or track you across other companies' apps and websites.
  • A street address is used only when you request an exact U.S. representative lookup.
  • A pronunciation report is sent only when you choose to submit one.

Local by default

Study data stays on your device

Your study progress, review history, preferences, selected test track, selected guide voice, state or territory, ZIP code, cached civics data, and mock interview history are stored in Civiq's private app storage on your device.

Deleting Civiq removes this local data unless it is later restored through an Apple device backup. Civiq does not operate a user account or cloud-sync profile for this information.

On-device speech and intelligence

Your mock interview is processed on your iPhone

Civiq requests microphone and speech-recognition access only when you choose to answer a mock interview question out loud. It transcribes the answer using Apple's on-device speech technology. On compatible iPhones with Apple Intelligence enabled, Civiq may use Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework to compare the meaning of the transcript with accepted civics answers and offer focused coaching. Official USCIS answers remain the source of truth.

Your interview audio, transcript, and on-device coaching analysis are not sent to Civiq, Firebase, an advertising service, Civiq's audio-review tools, or a cloud AI service. When Apple's on-device model is unavailable, Civiq uses its built-in answer matching so you can keep practicing. You can decline microphone or speech-recognition access and continue using study features that do not require spoken answers.

Only when requested

Representative lookup is temporary

If you ask Civiq to identify your U.S. representative, the street address, state, and ZIP code you enter are sent over HTTPS to Civiq's lookup service. That service submits the address to the official U.S. Census Geocoder to determine the congressional district, then matches the district to the current House roster.

Civiq does not write the street address to its application logs, analytics, or civics database. The service returns the representative result, not the address. Civiq may save the resulting representative information on your device so it remains available during study.

You can avoid this lookup and verify your representative through the official U.S. House website instead.

Optional feedback

Pronunciation reports are reviewed by a person

If you choose Report Pronunciation, Civiq sends the displayed question and answer, selected Nora or Theo guide voice, exact spoken-text hash, exact remote audio revision when available, app version and build, and anything you type in the optional suggestion and note fields.

A pronunciation report does not include your name, email address, ZIP code, street address, interview audio, or interview transcript. Reports are stored in a private Firebase Cloud Storage review inbox. Resolved or dismissed reports move to a private archive so Civiq can preserve an audio-correction history.

Reports are treated as review leads. They never change an answer or recording automatically.

Reliability

Diagnostics, app usage, and configuration

Civiq uses Google Firebase services to understand whether important flows work, diagnose crashes, and safely configure current civics data and launch behavior:

  • Firebase Analytics may process app interactions, app-instance information, device and app details, and general region. Civiq does not send your street address, interview transcript, or spoken answer as an analytics property.
  • Firebase Crashlytics may process crash stack traces, application state, device model, operating-system version, and app version so Civiq can diagnose failures.
  • Firebase Remote Config may process app and device configuration information, country or general region, language, time zone, operating-system version, Firebase app ID, and bundle ID to deliver safe configuration values.

Civiq does not use Firebase data for third-party advertising and does not attach your name to it.

Lifetime Pro

Purchases are handled by Apple

Apple processes the Lifetime Pro purchase through the App Store. Civiq reads the StoreKit entitlement needed to unlock Pro and may record privacy-safe purchase outcomes, such as completed, cancelled, failed, or restored.

Civiq does not receive or store your payment-card details. Apple's handling of purchase information is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

Limited providers

When information is processed elsewhere

Civiq uses information only for the purposes described in this policy and may rely on these providers:

  • Apple for App Store purchases, device backup, microphone access, on-device speech recognition, and on-device Foundation Models processing on compatible devices.
  • Google Firebase for analytics, crash diagnostics, remote configuration, hosted civics services, verified audio delivery, and private pronunciation-report storage.
  • U.S. Census Bureau for the address geocoding used in an exact representative lookup.
  • Official public data sources used to keep civics answers and current officeholder information accurate.

Civiq may disclose information if required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer where this policy continues to apply. Civiq does not sell or rent personal information.

Control

Retention, security, and your choices

On-device data remains until you reset it in Civiq, delete the app, or restore a different backup. Representative addresses are processed for the immediate lookup and are not intentionally retained by Civiq. Pronunciation reports remain in the private review system for quality review and correction history. Firebase retains service data according to the project's configured retention and Google's applicable terms.

Civiq uses HTTPS, access-controlled Firebase services, input validation, and content hashes to protect information in transit and in its review systems. No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.

You may study without speaking, decline microphone or speech-recognition access, avoid entering a street address, and choose not to submit pronunciation feedback. To ask about privacy or request deletion of a submitted pronunciation note, contact Civiq Support with enough non-sensitive detail to locate the report. Do not send a street address or interview transcript.

Younger users

Children's privacy

Civiq is not designed to collect a child's name, contact information, or spoken interview content. The app does not require an account and does not knowingly use personal information from children for advertising or profiling. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted information through a pronunciation report may contact Civiq Support.

Policy updates

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Civiq's features, providers, or legal obligations change. The current version will remain available at this URL and will show a revised date when material changes are published.
